📖 Game Rules

How to play the games in Joel's Target Shootout.

← Back to App
🎯 Scoring guide

These rules explain how each game is scored inside Joel's Target Shootout. Always follow the normal safety rules for the equipment and shooting area you are using.

🏆 501 COUNTDOWN
PLAYABLE NOW

Every player starts with 501 points. Each player takes three shots per turn. The value of the three shots is deducted from their remaining score.

Winning

The first player to reach exactly zero wins. The app currently uses a straight-out finish.

Bust

If a turn takes the player below zero, that turn is a bust and their score returns to what it was before the turn.

🎯 301 FAST COUNTDOWN
PLAYABLE NOW

301 uses the same rules as 501 but each player begins on 301 points.

Players get three shots per turn and subtract the turn total from their remaining score.

Winning

Reach exactly zero first. Going below zero is a bust.

🏏 Cricket 15–20 + BULL
PLAYABLE NOW

Cricket uses only 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and Bull. Each target needs three marks to be closed.

A single gives one mark, a double gives two marks and a treble gives three marks.

Scoring

Once you have closed a target, additional hits on that target score points while at least one opponent still has that target open.

For example, after closing 20, another Treble 20 scores 60 points if an opponent still has 20 open.

Bull

Single Bull gives one mark and has a value of 25. Double Bull gives two marks and has a value of 50.

Winning

Close all seven targets and have at least as many points as every opponent.

🕐 Around the Clock TARGET ORDER
COMING SOON

Players work through the targets in numerical order, normally from 1 through 20.

You must hit your current number before progressing to the next one. A miss means you remain on the same target.

Winning

The first player to complete the full sequence wins.

🌆 Shanghai SINGLE • DOUBLE • TREBLE
COMING SOON

Each round has a target number. Players score by hitting that number during their three-shot turn.

A single scores once the number, a double scores twice the number and a treble scores three times the number.

Shanghai

A Shanghai means hitting a single, double and treble of the current target during the same turn.

Shanghai has several recognised variations. The exact Joel's Target Shootout version will be shown when the game becomes playable.

💀 Killer ELIMINATION
COMING SOON

Each player is given or chooses a target number. Players first qualify to become a Killer.

Once qualified, hitting another player's target can remove one of that player's lives.

Winning

The final player remaining with lives wins.

Killer has several common rule variations, so the app will show the selected version before a match starts.

➕ Count-Up HIGH SCORE
COMING SOON

Every successful shot adds to your running total. Nothing is deducted.

Each player receives the same number of turns.

Winning

The player with the highest total when all rounds are finished wins.

🏆 Highest Score TOTAL SCORE
COMING SOON

Players receive a fixed number of turns and score as many points as possible.

Every shot is added to the player's total. The highest final score wins.

2️⃣7️⃣ Bob's 27 DOUBLES PRACTICE
COMING SOON

Players begin with 27 points. You take three attempts at Double 1, followed by Double 2, Double 3 and so on.

Successful doubles add their double value to your score. If all three attempts at a double miss, that double's value is deducted.

Example

At Double 5, every successful hit adds 10 points. Missing all three attempts deducts 10 points.

⏱️ Timed Challenge BEAT THE CLOCK
COMING SOON

Players receive a fixed amount of time to score as many points or complete as many targets as possible.

When the timer reaches zero, the round ends. The best completed score or challenge result wins.

❤️ Lives SURVIVAL
COMING SOON

Every player begins with a set number of lives.

Missing the required target or challenge costs a life. A player with no lives remaining is eliminated.

Winning

The last player remaining wins.

🎲 Random Target REACTION PRACTICE
COMING SOON

The app randomly chooses a target for the player. The player then attempts to hit that target before receiving another random target.

It is designed to practise reacting to unpredictable targets rather than following a fixed sequence.

🎯 Practice FREE SESSION
COMING SOON

Practice mode has no required winning score. Record shots freely and concentrate on accuracy, grouping or a particular target.

Future statistics can use practice sessions to show progress over time.

⚡ Quick Score SCORE SHEET
COMING SOON

Quick Score is a simple digital score sheet. It lets you record a shooting session without setting up a complete game.

Enter each shot or round and the app keeps a running total.

🔄 Round the Board PROGRESSION
COMING SOON

Players work through a predefined sequence of targets.

Hit the current target to move forward. A miss leaves you on the same target.

Winning

The first player to complete the entire target sequence wins.
